Home is where you build

a little print shop

When we say handmade and small-batch, we mean it. Each step of our process from ideas on paper to packaging the final product is done with care and slight human imperfections for added charm.

Let’s make a notebook

A step-by-step guide on how we make products to live on your desk. Making our stationery dreams come true one project at a time.

(1) Plan

It starts with an idea we always write down! All the fun tasks come first—a name, color schemes, paper choices and type of product is decided.

(2) Print

Lines? Dotted? Grid? Graphics, fonts, spacing and everything else is designed using some math and Adobe. Then, we print out everything using one of our three printers.

(3) Trim

This is where we shed some tears. Aligning and measuring our guillotine paper cutter as perfect as we can get to trim and size our products. Hopefully upgrading to an automatic machine soon.

(4) Bind

We have a 3:1 twin loop wire machine to punch and bind with metal wire; adhesive and weighted press for notepads and bookbinding supplies for custom hardcover books.

(5) Stamp

Our favorite tool—a vintage Kingsley hot foil stamping machine—is used to press metal type on covers. We can also personalize with a name or initials—email us.

(6) Package

Yay! A new paper good is complete and ready to be packaged. We use BOPP clear bags for now (transitioning to be plastic-free soon) and certify our ladies with their given names.

We chose earth, we choose each other!

We stay mindful of the fact that our love of stationery and paper goods comes at a cost to the environment on both a professional and personal level. Here are a few ways we practice intentional consumption as we think about creating and taking care of what we already have.

  • Our papers come from a FSC®-certified American paper mill powered by 100% renewable hydroelectric energy.

  • Our paper and product sizes are formatted to get the most use out of every single sheet. Any scraps are collected, reused and recycled. What isn’t sold is kept for personal use.

  • Our planners are all undated and designed to be used with time off in mind. Any future dated products will be small-batch, and we only use 100% recycled paper for daily schedule items.
